Welcome to the Groton Fire Department. A department that is rich in history with a focus on providing the Groton community fire suppression and Emergency Medical Services. The Groton Fire Department’s services however do not end there. The members of the department are responsible for the protection of life and property, the protection of the environment and natural resources of Groton, protection of the town’s important infrastructure, and protection from man-made and natural disasters. We have the ongoing responsibility to provide professional, caring, highly skilled, and expedient responses to requests for assistance with a focus on safety.
The Department is responsible for providing the town residents with 24 hour per day emergency services. The department holds at its roots a strong sense of pride and dedication to service to the community. Our membership is made up of a full-time Fire Chief, a full-time Deputy Fire Chief, 10 full-time career firefighter/EMTs as well as a robust group of call/volunteer firefighters and EMTs. Annual call volume continues to rise with recent totals just under 2000 requests for service.
The cornerstone of any fire department should be on providing excellent services to its community. The Groton Fire Department gains its strength from the numerous hours spent performing hands-on training and continuing education from subject matter experts in the fields of fire and EMS services. We also have a focus on creating innovative training competencies that meet NFPA, OSHA, and OEMS standards in effort to recognize and mitigate the challenges both current and future. As technology grows & improves, and recognizing the environmental changes, our ability to not only respond to the emergency but also to effectively and efficiently mitigate the incident needs to be at the forefront.
I want to thank the members of the Groton Fire Department for all that they do and for the care and service that they provide to our community.
